"The pursuit of happiness" is enshrined in the American constitution.
But it does not say what brings this happiness.
The American dream is thought to mean making a success of yourself - "making it".
This is the idea that success will make you happy because you get all the things you want.
It won't.
Most of our entertainment revolves around this notion of "making it".
Our young people are indoctrinated with it and there is no one to contradict it.
The only thing that will truly bring happiness in life is love.
Love is the cause and the purpose of life.
All the rest is window dressing.
